“Mrs. Marty Mann: The Lady, The Legend, The Lesbian”
This moving, visual exploration about a female pioneering member of Alcoholics Anonymous, who came to A.A. in 1941, was compiled by Mily over the course of five years from archives, interviews, and more. Marty's recovery story, “Women Suffer Too,” appeared in three editions of the book Alcoholics Anonymous (the “Big Book”). Marty and her partner Priscilla were instrumental in the start of the A.A. Grapevine magazine.
Outside of A.A., Marty founded and worked tirelessly for the National Council on Alcoholism, including speaking tours and testifying at of Senate hearing with Bill W. Over the years, Marty's circle included international cultural icons as well as notable figures in LGBTQ history.
